The tragicconsequences of the collapse of the earth’s surface within the mining allotment of Ordzhonikidze mine

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to draw the attention of scientists and mining workers to the importance of working off mineral deposits within the permissible parameters of mining and technicalproduction, the failure of which leads to tragic consequences. Based onthe analysis of physical data of the rock massif and the geomechanical condition of the exhausted space within the mine field, the causes of disturbances of the stability of the inter-dimensional pillar, its deformation and displacement were determined. The negative and dangerous factors of underground mining are given, which lead to the formation of large cavities, which are kept from collapses due to the inter-dimensional pillarand the thickness of the rocks that supported it. An analysis of the field development violations is given regarding the application of inappropriate systems of development, legislation, regulations,and inefficient design decisions that led to the accident that resulted from these violations. The actual consequences of theaccident, which resulted in extensive destruction of the earth’s surface, human casualties, seizure of cars, communications, buildings, roads, etc., are presented. Recommendations are given to prevent the collapse of the earth’s surface, the destruction of buildings,and the death of people.
